Taj Mahal is not only a UNESCO world heritage site but also,one of the seven wonders of the world.It was built by Emperor Shahjahan in the memory of his third wife Begum Mamtaz Mahal who had died in 1631.It is a very large and beautiful monument made of white marble in typical mughal architecture,a style that combines elements from Persian,Islamic and Indian architectural styles.This piece of art took 16 years to built,from 1631-1648 under the chief architect Ustad Ahmad Lahauri supported by several thousand artisans under the guidance of an Imperial committee.It was declared as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1983.Shahjahan cut the hands of the workers who built Taj Mahal so that it couldn't be built once again.Thousands of tourists visit INDIA to seeTaj Mahal every year.There is no adjective or word which could describe Taj Mahal's beauty!
