Agra Fort,also known as Red Fort of Agra was built by Akbar.It represented Mughal opulence and power as the centre piece of their empire.It is located on the right bank of river yamuna.It is built with red sandstone.Agra fort required 2000 stone cutters,2000 cement and 8000 labourers.The impressive structure is built within the protection of many forts, Khas Mahal,Shish Mahal,Muhamman Burje , Diwa-I-Khas,Diwan-I-Am and Nagina Masjid.These monuments are remarkable for the fusion of Persian art of the Timurid and Indian art form.
The fort can be described as a walled city.It was described as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1982.It is a very beautiful monument.
